If you’re wishing all this rain was snow... just know you’re not alone.
This one’s for all the dreamers, who gaze across our parking lot with hungry eyes at Mt. Olympus.
And this is Carl Simpson, circumnavigating the third most glaciated peak in the lower 48, in what photographer Jason Hummel calls a “Tour of the Gods”.

(Psst....You can find video and writings of his journey up the Hoh to Olympus’ glaciers on his website. Thank us later)

The deadline for submissions to enter the “VideOlympics” is Sunday, May 11, 2019.

VideOlympics is a film contest promoting outdoor activities on the Olympic Peninsula. The Hurricane Ridge Winter Sports Club is hosting the contest. Over $1,000 prizes will be awarded to the winners.

Submissions will be judged by the viewers, so you can stack the deck in your favor by bringing your friends to the film festival Saturday, May 18. . Viewers will be asked to take into consideration technical merit, local interest, and stoke factor (how much it makes you want to get off the couch and get outdoors on the Olympic Peninsula).

“One of the great things about the Olympic Peninsula is the wide range of outdoor activities available within a relatively small area,” says Greg Halberg, Hurricane Ridge Winter Sports Club member. “We want submissions from a wide variety of sports. There is also no restriction on when the movie was made, so if you have an oldie but goodie we would like to see that also.”

All submissions must be in digital format and submitted by May 11, 2019. Please submit a downloadable HD (720p minimum) .mov or .mp4 file delivered via youtube, vimeo, or dropbox to videOlympics@hurricaneridge.com.

Selected submissions will be shown at the VideOlympics Film Festival Saturday, May 18 at Studio Bob in Port Angeles.

The event is sponsored by North by Northwest, LibTech, the Hurricane Ridge Winter Sports Club, and Studio Bob.

For further information on film requirements and the terms and conditions please visit www.hurricaneridge.com.
